Personal Growth and Well-being
David’s life seemed to be influx.
David thought, “The last few months have been rough.” After diagnosis of Alzheimer’s for his mother, he had to look for a Memory Care home. His father had passed away a few years ago, and he was feeling the loss of both parents.
Although David had not realized it until now, the shelter above his head was gone. Things were coming apart. Aside from parents, David’s brother-in-law was divorcing his sister, leaving her with two small children and less income.
Impending changes to the tax rate caused a reduction in construction. As a result, David’s tile business was barely staying afloat. What to do?
David debated about a career change. Being a nurse would provide steady income but working in healthcare could be painful. However, it would allow him to help his sister.
David thought he was ‘okay.’
Through it all, he was surprised at his resilience. Emotionally, he felt okay, but he wished that he had someone else to confirm that he was truly okay rather than just numb.
David believed in looking forward rather than backward. He always wanted to focus on growth and well-being, never belaboring the past.
Why all this wondering all-of-a sudden? Then, he remembered an event that occurred while taking Spanish lessons in the hopes of travelling to Spain, a place on his “bucket list.” One night, a friend in the class mentioned a new healing and wellness practice that had opened in the area.
After class, David looked at the practice’s website. The site looked quite intriguing and offered an array of services.
If David wanted a more balanced life or be better at team communication and professional leadership, all he had to do was sign up for coaching in these areas.
The site offered coaching in “Spiritual Integration,” which helps deepen spiritual practice and reflection. And, if David had wounds that needed healing and desired growth and a return to wellness, the site offered integrative psychiatry consultations and integrative psychotherapy.
Hmm… David could see how each service offered an aspect of personal growth and well-being. Each area of growth could come together to beautifully complement each other and integrate over time. So how to choose what would best fit him right now?
He called the number listed, and the warm voice on the other end put him at ease. As he gently asked questions, it became clearer to David as to what service would be most helpful for him.
They set up an appointment for an intake assessment for the following week.
